My 911 Tribute to Michael Andrew Bane

In Memory of Michael Andrew Bane

Michael Andrew Bane, age 33.

Place killed: World Trade Center. Resident of Yardley, Pa. (USA).

Michael Andrew Bane

honored by Barbara at the blog ConfessionsOfAnAngelWaitress

Al Qaeda and other terrorist groups took action against the American public on September 11, 2001.  Michael Bane, was one of the thousands that were killed on that day as a result of their hate toward America and our people. Michael was employed by Marsh & McLennan as an Assistant Vice President of the casualty claims division. His office was on the 100th floor of the North Tower (tower one) of the World Trade Center. He was extremely proud to be working in the WTC. He was one of few people worldwide who worked so high up in the sky.

On
Tuesday, September 11, 2001, he got up for work at about 5:30 am, fed his dogs, and kissed his wife Tara goodbye. As he left their bedroom, he smiled at her and said, "I love you". He left his house at approximately 6:40 am - never to return.

Tara first learned of what happened at approx. 9:00 am. The radio stated that a small commuter plane struck the WTC. She thought was that he would be OK even if it hit his floor because he did not sit by the window. As she continued to drive to work she heard on another radio station that a second plane hit the towers and they were large commercial jets.

This station also indicated that it was a suspected terrorist attack. The intense fear overtook her. She was shaking uncontrollable and crying. Tara ran up to her office and ran for a phone. By this time she could not see the numbers on the telephone to dial because she was crying so much. Tara called to a coworker and informed her that her husband was in the buildings, her brother-in-law may be in the buildings and her father worked downtown. She was unable to contact any family members due to the phone lines being down. Tara returned home to her house in time to see the towers collapse. As a she watched the attacks with panic rising inside of her, she was still unable to determine if  other family members were ok. It took several hours to hear from the rest of her family members and to find out they were all safe. But they still did not hear from Michael.

The next few days were filled with making grueling phone calls to hospitals, and emergency hotlines, describing what her husband looked like, indicating any identifiable features including birthmarks, and what he was wearing on 9/11. She had family and friends visiting hospitals and other places in
New York City placing Michael's photo around in hopes of someone recognizing him and receiving some information as to his whereabouts. She had to collect DNA samples of her husband and track down dental records as well as past x-rays in hopes of identifying him either alive or dead. That first tortuous week and a half was spent with her family by her side, hoping, praying that Michael would be ok and waiting for that phone call stating so. During that time she was filled with the fears and panic of what Michael went through: If he jumped out a window in efforts to get away from the flames, if he was burned alive, if he was trapped and couldn't breath from all the smoke and flames, if he survived the plane crash and then had to suffer for the remainder of his life, if he was buried alive once the towers collapsed. These thoughts still plague her today. And to this day, she is filled with anxiety with regards to receiving that phone call notifying me of what body part of her husband was discovered, as well as the very real possibility of never having any piece of her husband be recovered.

Michael Bane was a fun loving, easy going, good guy. He loved to spend time with his nieces and nephews playing sports and games. He enjoyed his home and having family and friends over to visit, playing volleyball and BBQ-ing. He took care of his dogs and loved having them around. He recently began playing the guitar again which he did as a young adult.
Tara often would come home from work and find him playing the guitar and she would just listen and be soothed by it. Now, the music has stopped and Tara says she looks at the guitar and wishes she could see and hear him play it again - but that will never happen!

When her husband died there was a part of her that died also. It was the life that she had planned to share with Michael. It was raising children together, helping them to grow up as good moral, fair people as her and her husband are. It was growing old together enjoying a home and their lives together. And now her life is completely different, unfamiliar, and lonely. Her canvas has been wiped clear and she will have to rediscover that canvas, incorporating the right colors and forms.

“I will not give up on my life, and I will not give up on all Americans.  This giving me an opportunity to honor Michael and all those for whom life was cut short in the name of terrorism.” states Tara

” Those who orchestrated the 9/11 attacks need to be held accountable for their actions. And they are the terrorist groups, Al Qaeda and the others who finance and support them.
Al Qaeda and all the other terrorist groups, as well as those who harbor them and finance their actions have causeda tremendous amount of pain, suffering and agony to many of us. This destruction of life and land needs to stop.  We need to prevent them from inflicting the painand suffering that I have endured, onto any other American.” She continues

Our country, its people and all of our monuments, which represent the American dream, need not experience the tragedies of 9/11 ever again.
This was written by the wife of Michael Andrew Bane who lost his life at the tender age of 33.  He did not have to die.
Tara did not have to lose her husband and best friend.

God Bless Tara and her family.  Michael you are missed greatly.

Late Night Early Morning Funnies

FIRST DEGREE

A married couple were asleep when the phone rang  at 2 in the morning.

The wife (undoubtedly blonde), picked up the phone, listened a moment and
said "How should I know, that's 200 miles from here!" and hung up.

The husband said, "Who was that?"

The wife said, "I don't know, some woman wanting to know if the coast is
clear."

`´*:-.,_,.-:*´`´*:-.,_,.-:*´`´*:-.,_,-:*´`´*:

SECOND DEGREE

Two blondes are walking down the street. One notices a compact on the
sidewalk and leans down to pick it up.

She opens it, looks in the mirror and says, "Hmm, this person looks
familiar."

The second blonde says, "Here, let me see!"

So the first blonde hands her the compact. The second one looks in the
mirror and says, "You dummy, it's me!"

`´*:-.,_,.-:*´`´*:-.,_,.-:*´`´*:-.,_,.-:*´`´*:-

THIRD DEGREE

A blonde suspects her boyfriend of cheating on her, so she goes out and buys
a gun. She goes to his apartment unexpectedly and when she opens the door
she finds him in the arms of a redhead.

Well, the blonde is really angry. She opens her purse to take out the gun,
and as she does so, she is overcome with grief.

She takes the gun and puts it to her head.

The boyfriend yells, "No, honey, don't do it!!!"

The blonde replies, "Shut up, you're next!"

`´*:-.,_,.-:*´`´*:-.,_,.-:*´`´*:-.,_,.-:*´`´*:

FOURTH DEGREE

A blonde was bragging about her knowledge of state capitals. She proudly
says, "Go ahead, ask me, I know all of them."

A friend says, "OK, what's the capital of Wisconsin ? "

The blonde replies, "Oh, that's easy: W."

`´*:-.,_,.-:*´`´*:-.,_,.-:*´`´*:-.,_,.-:*´`´*:

FIFTH DEGREE

What did the blonde ask her doctor when he told her she was pregnant?

"Is it mine?"

SIXTH DEGREE

A blonde in her fourth year as a UCLA freshman, sat in her US
government class.

The professor asked her if she knew what Roe vs. Wade was about.

She pondered the question then finally said, "That was the decision George
Washington had to make before he crossed the Delaware "

`´*:-.,_,.-:*´`´*:-,_,.-:*´`´*:-.,_,.-:*´`´*:

SEVENTH DEGREE

Returning home from work, a blonde was shocked to find her house ransacked
and burglarized. She telephoned the police at once and reported the crime.

The police dispatcher broadcast the call on the radio, and a K-9 unit,
patrolling nearby was the first to respond.

As the K-9 officer approached the house with his dog on a leash, the blonde
ran out on the porch, shuddered at the sight of the cop and his dog, then
sat down on the steps.

Putting her face in her hands, she moaned, "I come home to find all my
possessions stolen. I call the police for help, and what do they do?

They send me a BLIND policeman."

OK. Now forward this to someone else who needs a laugh today!

GET A JOB!!!

To All the Jobs I’ve Held Before. And what I learned on my way out the door LOL

I have worked many

places in my life.  My first job was at the church nursery

taking care of the young children while their parents were

in the services.  I grew up in

San Antonio Texas and attended Harlandale Baptist church.

I learned how to deal with children and used my imagination

to keep them entertained and teach them at the same time.

My next job was at Midcap Bearing in San Antonio, TX.  I was still attending college at the time  I was a file clerk here.  I loved my job and all the people who worked there.  The boss man kind of intimidated me a bit, but he loved my desserts and we got along very well after that.  At this job I learned that it takes a lot of people working together to get the job done.  It takes a team.  This is where I met Rick and he moved me to Lytle.  Right away I got a job at

Lytle State Bank

I was “let go” because of something that was happening between the president and the secretary at the time that I wasn’t even aware of.  But that is water under the bridge.  Those people are long gone now.  At this place I worked in bookkeeping.  I have since tried to apply here and was told that waitressing is so much more different than working in a bank….hello…I know that moron. And I do have a brain!  All the girls that work there are nice except this one who is a snob and the only way inside apparently.  At this job I learned that not everyone is as nice as they seem on the outside.  You have people who I now call Sunshine People who are fake kind to your face and then talk about you as soon  as you leave the room.  I do not want to work around fake people anyway.

My next job was at a restaurant call El Cid.  It is actually in the building that was my last job.  I was a waitress there.  It was my first waitressing job.  I spilt a pot of coffee on this one dude…he still remembers. LOL  When it was time for my wedding rehersal the manager was not going to let me off to attend….my own rehersal dinner….she said if I did not to bother to come back to work because it would be like me saying I quit….um LOSER!  Of course I went to my own rehersal dinner! I had to learn on the job here and it was quite an eye opening experience finding out how people are towards people who serve them.  Some of the people are very kind and some of them need to get a clue…..My next job was at Keith Equipment.  I did paperwork for them.  I am not sure if this place is still open or not

To be continued.........

I Know...It's About Time!!!

Hello everybody!  It's me!

Sorry it has been such a long time since I wrote a serious entry.

We are all doing fine.

I have been adopted by the neighbors cats.  I guess since they show up here everyday I should name them.  The black and white one is a kitten. He is hilarious.  He waits by the door and when you open it up he pounces and says Hello.  He is funny to watch. He is always sneaking up on grass and pecans laying in the yard.

The second cat is the shyiest.  He hardly makes any noise unless he is thristy and then he lets you know right away.

The third cat is the loudest.  He meows at you over and over even after you feed him.

They are all craving attention.  I don't know why they picked me to adopt.  I don't even have cat food.  So I have been giving them shrimp tails and vienna sausages.  I also had a little milk left over today and where else could I have poured it?

Rick says it is because I feed them....whatever.

Tiny is not a happy camper.  She tolerates them but they are not allowed in the house.  She has been eating all her food as soon as we feed her....just in case the cats figure out how to sneak in!

Rick is gone to work through the week and I have been gettng more hours too.

Eric is doing great in Austin...just needs a car still.  Waiting on the Lord.

Work for me has been ok.  We have had a few new people and managers, but I am just putting in my time.

I have working on my book on my days off.  I have about 5 chapters written now.

Maybe one day it will be in print....

I am off tomorrow too so I will chill and get ready to watch Big Brother...Any fans?  I am one of the biggest fans...even more than Lisa is with CSI....and that is ALOT

I have added more pictures to my postcard wall.  Thanks to all of you who have sent them to me.

I am going to be mailing my magnet tomorrow....I bet you want to know who I got...too bad Robin swore me to secrecy

Speaking of Robin...I am so proud of her for starting her new job.  Go and wish her luck.  This is a extremely talented lady and those kids are in for a wonderful experience with a teacher like her.  She is so creative and fun.  Way to go Robin!

I am proud of all of you and thankful that you are my friends.

I wish I had more time to write more...but I am really concentrating on my book and improving my typing skills.

So I am here and I will try to visit everyones journals as I get the alerts.  I always try to leave some kind of comment.

Hope everyone is happy and well

LOVE YA BUNCHES! Barbara
