Robins 5er!!!!!!

The 5'er

      Hi guys!!!

It's Friday and it is time for what I call "THE 5'er!"

If you want to play all you do is cut and paste these questions into your journal. (there is no deadline as to when you can do "The 5'er) When you have answered them come back and leave a link in my comment section.  On the following Friday I will have a new set of questions! Have fun!

This week's theme is "survival" ... one of my favorite shows on tv is Survivor!!!!!!!!!!!let's see how you would do on an island.

LET'S PLAY!!!

1.  If you were to be stranded on a desert island and were allowed to take three things with you what would you take?

I would take a magnifying glass, a fishing pole and insect repellent

2.  How long do you think you could survive on that island?

I would win the money and share it with my friends in Jland! I promise!

3. Do you think you could survive longer if you had someone else with you? Who would that someone else be?

I would bring Eric along to cook up the fish and other catch I got.  I would bring Rick to help build the shelter.  I would bring Robin to keep me laughing.  I would bring Hadon for his words of wisdom and great advice.  I would bring Betty for the spiritual daily readings from the bible she would bring as one of her comforts.  Oh and then I would bring all of them to the final five and then when I won I would divide it 5 ways!

4.  Food hasn't been found yet...would you eat bugs to fight off your hunger?

Honey I would eat dirt to win that money! It wouldn't be the first time, my big sister used to feed me sand until Mom caught her.  I have video to prove it somewhere.

5.  What is the one thing that would be the hardest to live without on that island?

Diet Pepsi, chocolate and deoderant, toothbrush, makeup, oh but I could!!!

Oh yes and like Robin shampoo and soap.

Bonus question!!

Who is the one person you would HATE to be stranded with??

A rude person who thought they were better than everyone else.

So when I do get on that show I want all of you to watch and cheer me on from your living rooms.  I think a bunch of us should try out and then pretend we don't know each other.....what do ya think about that/

Photo Scavenger Hunt #63Okay Betty here is my entry for your photo hunt.  It is an oldie but a goodie.  This is my son Eric who taught himself to play the piano and guitar.  Now where did all that talent come from? Barbara

Extra Extra Read All About It

I am here today to ask a favor of all you, my dear friends in Jland.

You see I am a newly cashier person and I have noticed a few things since starting my job that I never knew before.

Being a cashier is hard work...oh I know what you are thinking...how hard could it be standing in one place and scanning groceries across a belt...well believe it or not there is so much more to it.

First of all you must be friendly to every person who comes through your line.  You must be fast and efficient.  You must know the prices of a million things in the store and you must be able to take your feelings and put them aside.

I would like to ask you to do me a huge favor.

The next time you go to get groceries if you will follow some of my suggestions it will go so much more smoothly when you get to the register.

First of all, please put all your fruits and vegetables at the start of your order.  That way we can keep them all together for you and it will be easier when you get home to put them away.

Also we have to type in codes for all of this produce which means memorizing numbers and codes for each one.

Don't mix different kinds of vegetables/fruits in the same little bag, it will only take longer because we must put each kind in separately and weigh them according to price.

If you decide you don't want something, take it back to shelve where you got it instead of waiting until you get to the register and handing it to the cashier saying Oh I changed my mind.

Know how much money you have and what you are spending. Others behind you will appreciate the fact that they don't have to wait for you to "find" your money.

Before you get in line, look through your coupons and make sure you have everything you wanted from your list.  It takes time to send the bagger to go and get what you forgot, plus your groceries will go un bagged until he/she gets back.

These are just a few things.

Now the most important one....

When the cashier smiles at you and asks how your are please please do not be rude and grunt or worse not answer.  I know you are tired after a long time of shopping, use this time to relax a bit and if you don't feel like smiling back at least don't be rude by not speaking.

Most of my customers are very very nice.  But when I am having a bad day and trying so hard to be nice, it is so demeaning to have someone come through my line who is mean or demanding.

Please don't keep the line waiting while you ignore the cashier and talk on your cell phone when it is your turn!

If you want something different like paper bags or ice or anything extra it is okay to ask.  We are there to help you.

Please do not think badly of me for mentioning these suggestions, it is just a few things that really get to me.

To sum up:

1. Put producefirst

2. Have payment ready and enough know around how much your order is going to be.

3. Be nice free banner maker

4. Be considerate

5.  Have what you need before you get in line.

6. Be patient

Now I am going to tell you something that happened to me yesterday that will blow your mind!

I had 30 dollars in my pocket when I went outside for a break.  When I pulled my keys out the money came with it.

When I got back from my break I noticed the money was gone.

I was trying not to break down and cry, but to me that is a lot of money to lose.

I mentioned it to my first customer.  I was very distressed about it.

Yesterday was freezing here with a cold cold wind.  She went outside and looked around where I was and...

Found my money and brought it back to me.

Thank you Lord for making her such a great person.  She could have kept the money and she didn't she gave it back to me.

The Carpenter

The Carpenter
An elderly carpenter was ready to retire. He told his employer-contractor of his plans to leave the house-building business and live a more leisurely life with his wife enjoying his extended family.

He would miss the paycheck, but he needed to retire. They could get by.

The contractor was sorry to see his good worker go and asked if he could  build just one more house as a personal favor. The carpenter said yes, but  in time it was easy to see that his heart was not in his work

He resorted  to shoddy workmanship and used inferior materials. It was an unfortunate  way to end a dedicated career.

When the carpenter finished his work the employer came to inspect the  house.

He handed the front-door key to the carpenter.  "This is your house," he said, "My gift to you!"  The carpenter was shocked! What a shame! If he had only known he was  building his own house, he would have done it all so differently.

So it is with us. We build our lives, a day at a time, often putting less than our best into the building. Then with a shock we realize we have to live in the house we have built. If we could do it over, we'd do it much differently.  But we cannot go back.

You are the carpenter.  Each day you hammer a nail, place a board, or erect a wall. "Life is a  do-it-yourself project," someone has said. Your attitudes and the choices  you make today, build the "house" you live in tomorrow.

Build wisely!
 Remember....
Work like you don't need the money
Love like you've never been hurt.
Dance like no one is watching

And remember that I will always be there for you. Barbara

And live laugh and love everyday of your life.

My Childhood

I had a great childhood growing up with my two sisters.  A loving Mom and Dad and plenty of things.

We had rules and as long as we followed them everything was okay.  We knew our limits.

All the rules were there to help us grow up into mature adults.

I think my parents did an excellent job.

My Mom mixed in humor and you just never knew what was going to happen.

My Dad was always there to listen to the problems and give out his wisdom as well.

If I could have picked the perfect parents I would choose the ones God gave me.

So on this birthday I would just like to say

Thanks Mom and Dad

I love you! Barbara
