Playing Hookie

Sorry I haven't been around lately.  We are adjusting to a new routine around here.

Rick has been working out of town.

Rick installs new pumps for gas stations.

Sometimes he has to work out of town.

For awhile there he was doing jobs close enough to come home every night.

For the next few weeks he will only be home on the weekends.

He left last Monday to go to Crystal City.

On Weds and Thurs I had a friend who I went shopping with.

He came home on Friday.

Next week he leaves again for the week.

I have been working more hours now and have less computer time.

I still read everyones journals and try to comment.

I will try to post better next week.

It is hard adjusting to being a bachorlette for the week days.

We are doing fine.

Eric is still car less, but is riding to work with his fellow chefs.

He has picked up extra work trying to save up for a car.

I talk to both of them via the phone now.

Tiny is here with me.  She gets very upset when Rick leaves.  She pouts.

I have been adopted by a few cats.  Tiny lets them hang around unless Rick is home.

I will write more next week.

Love ya, Barbara

We Have a Winner..Nicole or Noelle as I call her :)

It is Rick's stinky old work boot!!!!  I stuck the camera inside and hit the buttton!
I had some interesting guesses.....

Could it be the birth of a premature puppy?  No, too much extra space.  Cathy

Life here can be a zoo...but I have never been that close to a giraffe in my life!!!!

I have absolutely no idea, but we have got to put Robin in time out for her first guess

Robin was a naughty girl.  I laughed at her comment and then I erased it...just in case for PG ratings since I have a few children who stop by every once in a while.  LOL

The Winner!!!alot of you were close...

I"m stumped, but would have to guess a bag of some sort and there is a hole with the lining showing...maybe.  The "NE" throws me on this one.  I can't wait for the answer.

  What?

It looks icky but I see the area on both sides of the icky gap, has a strip that's been sewn onto the rest of the item.  Hmmmmmmm, I'll have to think about this one for awhile.  Linda in WA

It's Hot In Here

* It 's been so Hot.....

All the corn started popping and flying through the air. The cows thought it was snowing, and they froze to death......... : (

The potatoes cook underground and all you have to do to have lunch is to pull one out and add butter, salt and pepper ......... WHEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

Farmers are feeding their chickens crushed ice to keep them from laying hard boiled eggs........... : )

The cows are giving evaporated milk.

The trees are whistlin' for the dogs.

Even the sun is looking for shade.

The birds had to pick up the worms with potholders.

I saw a dog chasing a cat and they were walkin'.

I saw a fire hydrant begging for a dog to pee on it

CAMPBELL SOUP CO. has changed the directions on its cans to, "just pour and eat".

Water in public swimmiing pools is evaporating so fast that the children are being encouraged to swim in the deep end and to ignore the, "no peeing" rule.

Even the careless weeds are dying....do you know how long it took me to grow those?

You no longer associate bridges (or rivers) with water.

You eat hot chilies to cool your mouth off.

You can make instant sun tea.

You learn that a seat belt makes a pretty good branding iron.

The temperature drops below 95, you feel a bit chilly.

You've experienced condensation on your butt from the hot water in the toilet bowl.

You would give anything to be able to splash cold water on your face.

You can attend any function wearing shorts and a tank top.

The 4 seasons are: tolerable, hot, really hot, and ARE YOU KIDDING ME??!!

You discover that in July, it takes only 2 fingers to drive your car.

You discover that you can get a sunburn through your car window. (Amanda)

You notice the best parking place is determined by shade instead of distance.

It's noon in August, kids are on summer vacation, and not one person is out on the streets.

You actually burn your hand opening the car door.

You break a sweat the instant you step outside at 7:30 a.m. before work.

No one would dream of putting vinyl upholstery in a car or not having air conditioning. (Except maybe Mosie who would just ride a motorcycle)

Your biggest bicycle wreck fear is, "What if I get knocked out and end up lying on the pavement and cook to death?"

You realize that asphalt has a liquid state.

"I wish it would rain - not so much for me, cuz I've seen it -- but for all the children under the age of 6."

What To Do in the Heat

Whatever you decide to do.....DO NOT GO OUTSIDE!!!!!

That Bugs Me!!!!

Bugs....don't like em.  Not even a little bit...or should I say bite!

Noelle was stung on the foot by an ugly looking beetle and got me thinking about my own bug abuse.

Ants...always getting into Tinys kibbles.

Always coming in the electric plugs.

Bees...I swallowed one one time when it tried to drink a can of diet pepsi I left outside for a whole minute.

But the worst story was the day of the faded out blue jeans.

I use to hang my clothes out on a clothes line Rick built for me.

One day I hung a pair of old jeans on the line and never took them off.

I was looking out the window one day and thought...I think those pants might still fit me.  I am going to wear them today.

I went outside and bought them in.

I put in the left leg and then I put in the right.

I screamed bloody murder and bad words I had to fight.

My leg was on fire, I knew not why!

I threw off the pants and out a bunch of bees did fly.

I shook them out and out came two spiders that wiggled and jiggled inside em.

I got stung by all the bees and bit by the spiders too.

My leg was on fire and grew and grew and grew.

I went to the doctor, he gave me a shot.

A new pair of pants is what I did got!

So next time you wonder if those pants will still fit..

Throw them away so you won't get bit!

True story!  And one I will never forget.

Next time I will leave them on the line..you bet!
