Twin Cousins

Today is the birthday of my son Eric and his cousin Emily.

23 years ago today they came into this world and it hasn't been the same since.

My sister-in=law Beverly and I were both pregnant at the same time.  She was due in January and  I was due in December.

We were sitting around eating like pregnant ladys sometimes do.  We were having a big old feast.  We were eating liverwurst and crackers, chips and other healthy foods .

I was already two weeks past due.

I said...you know what I think I am having contractions....she said...no way!  Me too.

We told our husbands Rick (mine) and David (hers) and they started keeping time for us.

We were all ready and experts because we attended LaMaze classes together.

We decided that we better go and get checked out.

They put us in the same labor room in beds only separated by a curtain.

Beverly started having stronger contractions than me and was becoming quite the poplular one.  I on the other hand had stopped having such strong contractions and was rather boring.

So they all abandoned me and went to ohhh and ahhh over her progress.

Even my own husband......

Next thing I know she is being taken to have her baby.

My contractions had stopped.

But since I was past due they decided to keep me overnight to see if they would start up again.

Emily Ann was born a 6:00am on January 5, 1984.

My son Eric was born the same day 9 hours later at 1:10

So that is why we call them the Twin Cousins.

Emily as you all know hastwo children of her own now.

Eric is a chef in Austin.

Happy Birthday you two!

I loved reading this story.  I always thought how nice that would be to grow up together.  So far I think my grandchildren will get to do that.  There have been 4 born in three years and another on the way in September.  That's 5 in 3 1/2 years.  My sister and our cousin was born one day apart.  I always thought what it would be like to have two tiny grandchildren to hold.  Now look at me.  So sweet.
