I've been tagged by Holly

Tagged By HollyThese are are the rules; the first player of this game starts with the topic. Five weird habits of yourself and people who get tagged need to write an entry about their five weird habits as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose the next five people to be tagged and link to their web journals. Don’t forget to leave a comment in their blog or journal that says “You are tagged” (assuming they take comments) and tell them to read yours.

Pecans in the Cemetary

Pecans In The Cemetery
======================

On the outskirts of a small town, there was a big, old pecan
tree just inside the cemetery fence.  One day, two boys filled
up a bucketful of nuts and sat down by the tree, out of sight,
and began dividing the nuts.

"One for you, one for me.  One for you, one for me," said one
boy.  Several dropped and rolled down toward the fence.

Another boy came riding along the road on his bicycle.  As he
passed, he thought he heard voices from inside the cemetery.
He slowed down to investigate.  Sure enough, he heard,
"One for you, one for me.  One for you, one for me."

He just knew what it was.  He jumped back on his bike and rode
off.  Just around the bend he met an old man with a cane,
hobbling along.

"Come here quick," said the boy, "you won't believe what I
heard!  Satan and the Lord are down at the cemetery dividing up
the souls."

The man said, "Beat it kid, can't you see it's hard for me to
walk."  When the boy insisted though, the man hobbled to the
cemetery.  Standing by the fence they heard, "One for you, one
for me.  One for you, one for me..."

The old man whispered, "Boy, you've been tellin' the truth.
Let's see if we can see the Lord."  Shaking with fear, they
peered through the fence, yet were still unable to see anything.

The old man and the boy gripped the wrought iron bars of the
fence tighter and tighter as they tried to get a glimpse of the
Lord.

At last they heard, "One for you, one for me. That's all.
Now let's go get those nuts by the fence and we'll be done."

They say the old man made it back to town a full 5 minutes ahead
of the boy on the bike.

I warned you!!!!

Well not to worry it will be awhile before I post more pictures as I have taken them inside outside and upside down.  Hope you enjoy looking at them.  I promise my next entry will be something witty and wise.

Odds and Ends

Virtual Hilarity Sad but true LOL!

Someone in our neighborhood put a huge sofa out by the curb for trash collection. Since it was in good shape, many motorists slowed down for a look. But when they saw how enormous it was, they'd leave. Eventually a compact car pulled up, and two men got out. This I've got to see, I thought. They removed the cushions, turned the sofa upside down and shook it hard. Then they picked up all the coins that tumbled out, and drove off.
Giggle giggle !!!!

This has to be one of the best singles ads ever printed. It is reported to have been listed in the Atlanta Journal.

SINGLE BLACK FEMALE seeks male companionship, ethnicity unimportant. I'm a very good girl who LOVES to play. I love long walks in the woods, riding in your pickup truck, hunting, camping and fishing trips, cozy winter nights lying by the fire. Candlelight dinners will have me eating out of your hand. I'll be at the front door when you get home from work, wearing only what nature gave me. Call (404) 875-6420 and ask for Daisy, I'll be waiting....

Over 15,000 men found themselves talking to the Atlanta Humane Society about an 8-week-old black Labrador retriever

Okay I guess that is enough funnies for today.  I have loaded some pictures for your reading entertainment.  I will be taking more pictures today as it is beautiful outside and Tiny is itching to get out and find some lizards and squirrels to play with.

She is so funny to watch. I try to read outside on my deck but she distracts me with her carrying on.

I am off work today and I had planned to only go to the post office to mail a bill and guess what?  The gas man came to deliver our gas today and said he could take the check in for me! Woo Hoo!  I don't have to go anywhere today.

I am thinking I will be lazy and sit outside and read for awhile. I have got to get through some of these books I checked out at the library LOL.

My foot is healing nicely and should be go to go by tomorrow. I plan to keep it propped up all day and just relax.  It will be my last day off this week.  I got a nice email from my Dad yesterday.  I love hearing from him, He is so awesome.

Before I go I will make you a list of what I got from all my great family for Christmas:

Rick: a digital camera. a nice one Sony Cyberware!

I made out like a bandit this year!!!!

I am not going to spend my whole day here at this computer, so I am off to enjoy my day off.  I will check back tonight and see what you have been up to.

Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas? Yeah Right!!!

Don't get me wrong....most of it was great.

On Christmas Eve Rick and I went to my parents house to spend some time with them and my sister and her husband and kids and my brother in law, his new wife and their kids.

We arrived first, not normal we are usually the last to arrive.  As I was going to the car to get our gifts for the family I slipped on some leaves piled in the yard, twisted my foot and fell flat on my face.

It hurt so bad, but I played it off.  As the night wore on my foot became sorer and sorer.

We ate dinner and I had a nice time talking to my little sisters new husbands wife.  My sister is in Heaven now and her husband has remarried.  She is very sweet and a part of our family.

After the children read the Christmas story, we all drank a toast of eggnog (non alcoholic of course) to our great grandfather Harry Valentine Cullum.  Then the presents were passed around and everyone got great gifts.  My Dad loved the hook rug of a light house I made for him and the can of pecans and the tape I made of me singing.

Mom loved the shirts I got for her.

My big sister loved the dragonfly pin and leather/fur pillow I gave her.

My little nephew informed me that I gave him a movie he already had but said it was okay at least I tried LOL

I got alot of cool gifts as well. A ring that you can change the stone in. A nice sweater, some of my little sisters jewlery, and lots of other great gifts.

As we were leaving my foot was throbing.  We were going to head to Austin from my parents, but when we got into the car Rick realized in the rush to get the presents together he had forgotten to grab his suitcase.  We had to go back an extra 30 minutes both ways to pick it up.

When we got to Austin I found that I could not even walk at all on my foot.  Now understand that my son lives on the second floor and we had parked in the second parking lot quite a way from his apartment.  I could not stand on my foot at all.

Eric and Rick took up all the gifts and I stood like an idiot by the car trying to will my foot to work.

Eric came back and let me use him as a crutch and somehow I made it to his apartment.

Since I could not walk anywhere I spent all day crawling around on the floor like a puppy dog.  As a matter of fact my little dog thought I was down there so that I could play with her and kept attacking me.

The next day Rick and Eric went out when the stores opened and got me a cane.  This worked out fine. No more crawling around.

Today my foot was still swollen but I managed to get around with my cane.  We went to Erics restaurant club house and rode around in the golf carts on the course.  It was a pretty day.

I got my digital camera I wanted. Now could someone please tell me how to hook it to my computer?    It is a Sony.

Do I have to do something with a memory stick?  If so where in the heck is it?

Tomorrow I go into work at 7:45 am and I am going to have to take my cane with me.  Maybe they will send me home early.  This should be fun.

I had a Merry Christmas anyway but I am glad it is over except for the part where I got to spend time with my family and my son.

Calling it a night.... Barbara

Need to Laugh Some More?

Simply Stating the Facts

TWO COWBOYS met at a cattle auction. “Howdy, pardner,” said the first cowboy. “My name is Tex.”

“Well, howdy,” said the other. “Are you from Texas?”

“No, I’m from Louisiana,” the first answered. “But what cowboy wants to be called Louise?”

Three Wise Women

WHAT would have happened if it had been three wise women who visited the baby Jesus instead of three wise men? They would have asked directions, gotten there early, cleaned the stable, made a casserole and brought practical gifts.

A Saucy Reply

A MAN’S dentures were bothering him. They had become all pitted and scarred. “What have you been eating?” asked his dentist.

“Hollandaise sauce,” the man replied. “And no matter what you say, I’m not giving it up.”

“Okay,” the dentist said. “I’ll make you new plates out of chrome. Everyone knows that there’s no plates like chrome for the hollandaise.”

Staying Ahead of the Weather

AN OLD-TIMER walked into town each morning to buy a newspaper at the general store. One morning, the proprietor warned him that there was a blizzard predicted for the following day. “In that case,” said the old-timer, “I’d better buy two papers—I might not be able to make it into town tomorrow.”

No Title Just Read It and See What I Am Yapping About Now!

So did that title get you curious?

I am definately almost possibly close to near done with all my Christmas preparations.

I have finished shopping!!!!!!!!!

I have wrapped half of the presents

I have put up my Christmas tree.  Lucky for Rick I didn't have to decorate his hat stand as threatened.

Now all I have to do is finish wrapping presents and clean this house.  My two most favorite things to do. NOT!!!

I have to go to work today from 1:45 to 7:45

Yesterday at work one of the managers was in a cranky mood.  He was yelling at everyone and making the baggers cry by screaming at them.  I think if you are having a bad day you should keep it to yourself and not make oithers around you miserable!

This one poor little bagger was so shook up that she had a hard time doing her job afterward.  She is the type that is a perfectionist and gets really upset if someone gets on to her.

She really didn't do anything wrong as far as I could see.  She was my bagger and she was doing a great job keeping up with me.  She is still in high school and very mature for her age.

I tried to tell her not to worry about it because from the looks of it he was yelling at everyone.

He even yelled at me when after 4 hours of non stop checking my lane was empty for a second and he told me to annouce that my lanewas open no lines no waiting.

This after he forgot to give me my break.

I hope he is off today, or in a better mood.

For some of these kids this is their first job, give them a break.

So how is everyone else doing on their Christmas management?

Everyone seems busy because I have not had many alerts this morning.

I hope everyone is well and happy!

I am feeling great right now!!!!

My husband called from his job working out of town and said that he has a cold.  I hope he gets better by Christmas time.

We will be going to Austin for Christmas for a few days so I will not be on here.  Don't worry about me.  I will be back soon and back to chat.  We leave Christmas Eve night.

Also I have to pack and get all the presents together to take.

We will go to my parents and spend some time Christmas Eve with my mom and dad and my sister and her family.  Also my little sisters kids will be there with their dad and his new wife.  I am not sure if her son will be there or not.  I am bringing him a present too.

At work we are having a contest to see which checker can sell the most M & M's the winner gets $100!!! I am trying like crazy to sell M & M's to every customer.  Most people say yes!!! I hope I win!!! Most checkers don't even ask!

I don't mind asking my customers if they want to buy chocolate but I hate that we have to aske them if they want ice or cigarettes.  Alot of people are offended when you ask them if they want cigarettes...do I look like I smoke?  Do I have yellow teeth or something etc.

I will be here until then.

Have a great day and may God Bless You All!

My Letter to Santa

Santa Claus
North Pole, Earth

Dear Santa,

I have been a good girl.

It really wasn't my fault what happened at Marina's Office party. It was Robin who spiked the punch with too much water. I can't help it if I drank 3 glasses. It was so good---smelled and tasted just like vanilla.

I thought it was funny when I put Betty's bra on my head and danced the tango on the computer desk while singing `Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas'. I didn't mean to break Marina's printer and don't know why Marina would accuse me of robbing a store.

I don't remember calling Jaime's wife a handsome horse---even though she looked like one with red eye shadow and blue lipstick!

And when I threw up on Holly's husband's chest, it was only because I ate too much of that pizza.

After all that fun, I admit I was a little tired. So I fell asleep on my way home and drove my motorcycle through my neighbor's kitchen. I don't think that was any reason for my neighbor to call me a huge goat and have me arrested for acting like scrooge!

So, Santa...here I sit in my jail cell on Christmas Eve, all sweet and innocent. And I'm really not to blame for any of this honest stuff. Please bring me what I want the most---bail money!

Sincerely and bravely yours,
Barbara (Really a nice girl!)

P.S. It's only 27 bucks!

Wanta play?  See what your answers turn out to be!  Leave me a link so I can read your letter too.  Sorry it turned out about you like it did Holly, you know I love ya!!! And Betty please keep your bra on from now on....LOL and Robin, if you are going to spike the punch.... Okay go try this yourself: Dear Santa

Words of Wisdom?

We no longer believe that people can change themselves into animals, yet the world is filled with men who make hogs of themselves and asses as well.

Why aren't elephants allowed on beaches?                             They can't keep their trunks up!!

I found a donkey with an IQ of 138.  He hasn't any friends because nobody likes a smart ass.

Animals are very important in a woman's life.  She needs 4 animals in her world to survive. A jaguar in her garage, a tiger in her bed, a mink in her closet and a jackass to pay for it all.

This sign seen in a laundry room: Ladies leave your clothes here and spend the afternoon having a good time.

Sign in the window of a restaurant:                                      Wanted man to wash dishes and two waitresses

Notice at club advertising propler attire: A sports jacket may be worn to dinner-but no jeans.

In a cemetary there is a sign that says: People are prohibited from picking flowers from any but their own graves.

I told the waiter at a restaurant that my soup tasted funny.  He said well go ahead and laugh.

I asked the waiter, "will the spagetti I ordered be long?" He said, " I don't know we never measured it"

Executive Ability- the art of getting all the credit for all the hard work everyone else does.

What do you say to that? Barbara

Patricks Saturday Six

Patrick's Saturday Six

Here are this week's "Saturday Six" questions. Either answer the questions in a comment at Patrick's journal, or put the answers in an entry on your journal...but either way, leave a link to your journal at Patrick's so that everyone else can visit!

1. How much of your Christmas shopping and holiday card mailing do you have left to accomplish? Okay this is the first year I am not sending any cards.  I might send to the ones who sent cards to me just to keep in touch, but this year Christmas caught me off guard.  As far as my shopping goes....I am done!!!!!! All I have left to do is about 3 hours worth of wrapping what I bought and then loading it all in my sleigh (Ford Explorer) to take to my parents house and then after that to Austin for a Austin Christmas with our chef.(son).

When do you expect to finish it if you haven't already? (doing the happy dance) I am done!!!!
2. When giving gifts to co-workers or casual friends, how much importance do you place on the value of the gift you're giving them versus the value of the gift you imagine they're giving you?  Since I just started my new job, this will be the first year that I am buying only for family.
3. What are you secretly hoping someone will give you for Christmas that you haven't specifically asked for?  A digital camera...or wait...did I ask for this???? well maybe I mentioned it...(A FEW HUNDRED TIMES!!!!)  will I get it? no

4. Take this quiz (if you haven't already!): Which Jones Holiday Soda Flavor are you?  You Are Smoked Salmon Pate Soda

5. Would you actually try that flavor?   Gross NO!
6. READER'S CHOICE QUESTION #78 from Carly: If you could step into the life of any fictional Christmas character -- Scrooge, Rudolph, Frost, etc. -- and live that part, which character would you choose and why?

5. Would you actually try that flavor?  No.

6. READER'S CHOICE QUESTION #78 from Carly: If you could step into the life of any fictional Christmas character -- Scrooge, Rudolph, Frost, etc. -- and live that part, which character would you choose and why?

No one fictional, my life is perfect just the way it is, besides. I can't think of one of them I would want to go through what they did.

Robins 5'r You'll Love This ONe

1.  Do you ever go to someone's journal and just think to yourself, "Oh brother...here they go again...get over it already!"  And do you think your answer is naughty or nice?  I have done this a few times but then if I think they are boring I won't put them on my alerts list.  Everyone who I currently write to and recieve comments from are very nice and interesting people.  If I don't like what someone has to say on their journal I figure it is their space to write their opinion and respect their right to write about what they wish.  Does this make sense?

2.  I kinda think naughty can be fun and nice can get boring. Tell us something you have done lately that was naughty.

I haven't actually done it yet but I'm fixin to.  I have asked my husband at least 10 times to bring in the Christmas tree so I can decorate and here it is a week away from Christmas and still no tree.  Therefore I am going to take all the hats and coats off his hat rack and wrap it in toilet paper to look like a snowman and string lights around and around and put garland around the toiletmans neck and put his Stetson on top instead of my angel.....or maybe I will put the angel. What do you think?

 3.  Have you ever used the "If you are naughty Santa won't bring you any presents" line on your kids?  And if they remained naughty did you ever withold their presents? I have never said this to my child!!! What are ya'll a bunch of child abusers or what?  Who could be so cruel....what's that? You are going to call my son and ask him????? Oh...well maybe I said it once twice?

4.  If you were at the work Christmas party and your "naughty" boss gave you a squeeze on your back side would you tell anyone? I would make a big announcement about it, like oh my gosh...did you just pinch me? Did anyone see that?  Well I guess we know whose getting a raise this year!!!!

5.  Tell us about an unexpected nice thing someone has done for you this December...or something nice you have done for something else that wasn't expecting it.

I prefer to keep what I have done for someone as a random act of kindness. Hopefully I bless people daily by my actions and words.  I can't say who, but someone unexpectly gave me a very nice surprise this year. It really boosted my Christmas spirit. You know who you are and I would just like to say I love you and Thank you.

Merry Christmas to you all! Have a safe and happy new year!!!

Now hurry up and go and answer these questions I am dying to know what nice and naughty things you did!!!

Barbara

Where Have you Been Barbara?

I have been a busy girl!!!! Yesterday my friend Tomi woke me up and we went to town to go shopping.  We had actually arranged to do this the day before, but when I told her to be at my house by nine I thought she would actually get here around 11.

At nine I was still snoring when she came tapping at my window.  Now normally as you all know I am usually up around 7 on my computer talking to you guys.  I must have needed extra sleep.

I got up and drank my coffee while she laughed at me for not being ready yet.  I was glad to see she was taking it so well.

After freezing my eyes off putting my contacts in with ice water, and drinking my one cup of coffee (usually have at least three) we were on our way.

We went first to this new HEB plus store in San Antonio.  I found a lot of cool presents for Eric and Rick.  I found a few things for other family as well.

Next we went to eat. We ate chinese...Yum!

Next we went to the mall and I lugged around Rick's heavy present through the whole mall.  My arm still aches!!!

We got home around 6

This morning I had to be at work by 7am.  I made it to work and had a great day.  I wasn't even tired like I thought I would be.  The manager asked me to work a double shift and I had to say no.  I had to finish my Christmas shopping.  I went to two stores after work and now I am almost done!!!!

I am going to try and wrap presents tonight....this will take hours....Rick is home for the weekend so I am going to see if I can get him to get the tree out of the shop.  Otherwise I have threatened to decorate the hat stand.

I am fighting off a slight cold but otherwise doing fine.  It is cold here. 45 degrees!!!! They say it might snow..... wish me luck!!!

That's all for now.

Or should I say it's a wrap!!!! Barbara

Try this!!!!
