My Old Journal minus some pictures....

This is my old journal minus some pictures....as soon as I figure out how to save the pictures I will hopefully be adding them back in. Anyone know how to do this? Anyway I wanted to save this journal for old times sake. Might be fun to go back and see where we have been. Plus I met all of my cool journal friends through this journal. So I think I will write in here every once in a while but mostly I will write in my new journal...One day I hope to be fancy about it like some of you are....for now I am just trying to get the info back. :) It will be fun to look back at all the surveys, games and adventures. xoxBarb

so sad...

I am so very very sad.

First Tiny, then my Dad, then my Mom...

now Jland.

What a horrible year.

I should have eaten more black-eyed peas.

I am in a panic. Four years of putting my heart into a journal.

All gonna disappear.

All of my pictures of events that have happened to me.

Gonna be gone.

All my friends I have made here...will soon forget me.

:(

So sad.

I probably will not be able to save my pictures here or my words over the last few years.  Too much going on in my life right now.

No more reading your journals and catching up and seeing what you and your kids are up to...I will definately miss that.

Too many friends to name...but you KNOW who you are.

I just want to say one thing.....which BTW will disappear from the page but NEVER from my heart.

I LOVE YOU ALL

Thank you for being my friend.

Goodbye.

Sigh.......

Barb aka Waitressangel

Please stop by if you ever get a chance to singsnap.com

I am waitressangel there. Leave me a comment or two.

I will miss you more than words can say.

DADDY'S GONNA EAT YOUR FINGERS

I was packing for my business trip and my three year old daughter was having a wonderful time playing on the bed. At one point she said,
'Daddy, look at this', and stuck out two of her fingers.

Trying to keep her entertained, I reached out and stuck her tiny fingers in my mouth and sai d,

'Daddy's gonna eat your fingers,'

pretending to eat them.

I went back to packing, looked up again and my daughter was standing on the bed staring at her fingers with a devastated look on her face.

I said,
'What's wrong, honey?'

She replied,

'What happened to my booger?'

Wierd Dreams

Have you ever had a reoccurring dream that you could not understand?  Rick and I were talking this morning and we found that we both dream about the same house....It is weird because we dream about this house often. The more I talked to him about it the more freaked out we both became.....The house we both dream about is the exact same one.  We do not live in this house....Maybe it is because we are moving around so much....We had a week in Rockport waking up in a cottage....then we went to Eric's and woke up in his house.  We spend the night at Moms and Dads house alot and we stay home sometimes....We wake up and say.....ok this is where I am today...

But seriously we have both been dreaming of the same house for years.

Before we got our current house we almost got a different one.  It cost 1000.00 more than we could afford.

So we went with the other one.

The house we did not get is the one we have both been having dreams about.....hmmmm weird right?

The more Rick described his dreams the more freaked out I got.

He dreams that the house has two kitchens...on we don't use....An upstairs filled with new stuff that we "forget" is there and when we remember think,,,,hey this is ours too we should use these rooms....

Ok and the other weird thing I dream about is that I have swallowed my hair and I am trying to pull it back out......

I know....weird.....

How about you...talk with your "other" and see if you share the same dream...

Maybe it will be in our future to have that house....who knows?

Gone Fishin

Eric came for a visit!  We decided to load up and go fishin.  We left Thurs and spent the night.  It was nice getting away from it all.  Eric and Rick caught alot of fish....I didn't catch one.  Usually I catch the first fish and the biggest fish....That's ok we had fun.  Eric is staying until tomorrow.  And then it is back to work...I took a week off from the stress.  I feel better.  Antibotics finally kicking in.

Sadie had a blast too.  She chased her little red ball the whole time it seemed.

It was nice to forget about it all for awhile.

I start back Monday.  I am going to concentrate on getting it all together so that we can spend more time at our own house.

Words of Wisdom

An Angel says, 'Never borrow from the future. If you worry about what may happen tomorrow and it doesn't happen, you have worried in vain. Even if it does happen, you have to worry twice.'

1. Pray
2. Go to bed on time.
3. Get up on time so you can start the day unrushed.
4. Say No to projects that won't fit into your time schedule, or that will compromise your mental health.

5. Delegate tasks to capable others.
6. Simplify and unclutter your life.
7. Less is more. (Although one is often not enough, two are often too many.)
8. Allow extra time to do things and to get to places.

9. Pace yourself. Spread out big changes and difficult projects over time; don't lump the hard things all together.
10. Take one day at a time.
11. Separate worries from concerns . If a situation is a concern, find out what God would have you do and let go of the anxiety . If you can't do anything about a situation, forget it.
12. Live within your budget; don't use credit cards for ordinary purchases.

13. Have backups; an extra car key in your wallet, an extra house key buried in the garden, extra stamps, etc.
14. K.M.S. (Keep Mouth Shut). This single piece of advice can prevent an enormous amount of trouble.
15. Do something for the Kid in You everyday.

16. Carry a Bible with you to read while waiting in line.
17. Get enough rest.
18. Eat right.
19 Get organized so everything has its place.

20. Listen to a tape while driving that can help improve your quality of life.
21. Write down thoughts and inspirations.
22. Every day, find time to be alone.
23. Having problems? Talk to God on the spot. Try to nip small problems in the bud. Don't wait until it's time to go to bed to try and pray.
24. Make friends with Godly people.

25. Keep a folder of favorite scriptures on hand.
26. Remember that the shortest bridge between despair and hope is often a good 'Thank you Jesus .'
27. Laugh.
28. Laugh some more!
29. Take your work seriously, but not yourself at all.
30. Develop a forgiving attitude (most people are doing the best they can).

31. Be kind to unkind people (they probably need it the most).
32. Sit on your ego.
33 Talk less; listen more.
34. Slow down.
35. Remind yourself that you are not the general manager of the universe.
36 Every night before bed, think of one thing you're grateful for that you've never been grateful for before.
GOD HAS A WAY OF TURNING THINGS AROUND FOR YOU.

'If God is for us, who can be against us?'

(Romans 8:31)

YARDSALES EMERY BOARDS TIC TACS AND HIVES OH MY

ATTENTION...I AM STILL HERE......

NEWS FLASH...

YARDSALES, EMERYBOARDS TIC TACS AND HIVES .....OH MY

YARDSALES/////

I am going to have to have at least one yard sale for each room of this house....that is 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, living room den and dining room.....oh and one for each of the 5 closets....then we have the garage....and Dad's cottage/office in the back.....and oh yeah ....there is more in the attic.

So I am thinking......that would make about 17......

EMERYBOARDS

So far I have counted over 100 of them placed everywhere and any where in this house....usually next to a used kleenix.

ORANGE TIC TACS.....1 MILLION AND COUNTING

OH AND NOT TO MENTION....

The HIVES have returned.  I went to the doctor and am currently taking medicine for it, but they keep coming back to visit.....

Doctor said it could be stress related....ya think?

Oh well....just another chapter in the life and times of me.

I am hanging in there.

I spend all week at the HOUSE....and return to my house on the weekends.

I have an adopted maltese....Nikki who Sadie likes to terrorize.....this leads to multiple barks and stop it Sadies....

So I have been practicing my piano playing for an hour or so each day to relieve some pressure.....that is until Sadie decides it is time to play and jumps into my lap and bites at my hands so I will quit and go play with her.

Rick has been  very patient about all the time I am having to spend away from him....hope that holds up.

The other drama is still continueing but that will have to wait.....

Eric is going to be best man in a weddimg next week....so I am finally going to go and visit him and see his new house.....I think it will be a great little get away.

So you see....I am still around.....just never still.

LOVE YOU ALL! Barb

Rockport

We finally made it to go to vacation.  We went to Rockport Texas.  We stayed 9 days and had a blast.  Rick spent the majority of the time there fishing....asking when we were going fishing and setting his alarm to go fishing.

How do you like the new truck?  It is a 2008 Toyota Tundra.  We traded in my Explorer for it.

My tattoo really hurt when I got it.....a mosquito bite? Yeah right....more like someone taking a hot knife and slowly cutting ....anyway...IT HURT!!!!!

I decided on the dragonfly because they always remind me of my little sister.

Now I am busy with settling all of my parents things.....I have a whole house of things to go through.

People......please clean out all the things you really do not need.   It would make it so much easier on your children.

I have found so many things I couldn't even begin to tell.

Oh well.....I have a little unpaid time off from work to see what I can accomplish......Wish me luck.

Thanks so much for all the cards and letters.  They have helped me make it through.

I love you all for your friendship and prayers....don't stop!

LOVE BARB

27 years

June 27 2008 Rick and I celebrated our 27th wedding anniversary.  We were still at Moms.  He gave me 27 long stem red roses. What a sweetie.  Love you honey!

These are pictures from the last week spent with Mom.  It was a hard time.  I am glad we got to spend the time with her though.  She is now in Heaven with Daddy and Christi.

Sunday, June 29, 2008

Shirley will be dearly missed by family and friends . The family would like to thank the staff of Odyssey Healthcare for the love and friendship they showed to her and her family during her journey home. Gifts of love can be given to the Television Ministry at First Baptist Church.

Mom

I would like to start this by saying Thank you to all of you who have been praying for me and my Mom.

Rick and I were  suppose to be on vacation this week.  We had reservations for 9 days in Port Aransas.  I was worried because I knew Mom was not well.  She was diagnosed with Liver Cancer in May of 2007.  She struggled with all the trips to the doctor for chemo.

She lost all her hair and then got it back.

She was so excited that Rick and I were getting away for a few days of fun in the sun.

Wednesday morning June 18th she woke up in terrible pain.  So bad that she called her neighbor and asked for her to take her to the doctor....but not to tell me she was feeling bad.  She did not want to worry me.

The doctor sent her to the hospital for tests.  Cat scan and such.,  They found that the cancer was progressing.

The neighbor called to inform me of what was going on.

I went to the hospital and when I walked into the room Mom got upset and wanted to know why I was not at work and shouldn't I be getting ready for my vacation?

I told her I had canceled it and she got very angry with me and insisted that I call back to reschedule to trip.

I told her I would later and she said....now.

By the next day she found out bad news from the results of the test.  The doctor told me that there was no more treatments her body could withstand .

And not to leave town.  I canceled once more.

The doctor said that we had two choices. Hospice in a home or to come home and take care of her with the help of Hospice as needed.

It was a rough week.

Mom slowly got worse.

At one point she told me no more medicine.

Then she stopped eating.  Hospices was called in for 24 hour care.

She slept alot.

After two days of not talking or opening her eyes I walked in the next morning and said....Good Morning. She opened her eyes and smiled and said...Good Morning!

I almost fell through the floor.  She seemed so much better and alert.

Then she asked for Rick.

She asked him. "Where am I?"

He said that she was home and we were taking care of her.

She sighed and gave a disgusted look and went back to sleep.

Many times she said she went to Heaven and was mad that she woke up and was still here.

Last night I couldn't go to sleep.

Finally I decided I should try.

I went in to say good night and she was awake.

The nurse said she was declining.

I asked her if she wanted me to sing her the same song as I sang to Daddy and she moved her eyebrows up and down....which meant yes

After I finished sing Somewhere Over The Rainbow to her she took 2 more breaths and left for Heaven.

She passed away at 1:00 in the morning.

I will miss her quick wit and funny jokes.

I will miss her smile.

I will miss her wiggling her eyebrows.

I love you Mom.

You are with Daddy and Christi now.

I will miss you so much.

25 Reasons I Owe My Parents

My mother taught me TO APPRECIATE A JOB WELL DONE.--“If you're going to kill each other, do it outside. I just finished cleaning.”
My father taught me RELIGION.--“You better pray that will come out of the carpet.”
My mother taught me about TIME TRAVEL.--“If you don't straighten up, I'm going to knock you into the middle of next week!”
My father taught me LOGIC.--“Because I said so, that's why.”
My mother taught me MORE LOGIC.--“If you fall out of that swing and break your neck, you're not going to the store with me.”
My mother taught me FORESIGHT.--“Make sure you wear clean underwear, in case you're in an accident.”
My mother taught me IRONY.--“Keep crying, and I'll give you something to cry about.”
My father taught me about the science of OSMOSIS.--“Shut your mouth and eat your supper.”
My mother taught me about CONTORTIONISM.--“Will you look at that dirt on the back of your neck!”
My father taught me about STAMINA.--“You’ll sit there until all that spinach is gone.”
My mother taught me about WEATHER.--“This room of yours looks as if a tornado went through it.”
My mother taught me about HYPOCRISY.--“If I told you once, I've told you a million times. Don't exaggerate!”
My mother taught me the CIRCLE OF LIFE.--“I brought you into this world, and I can take you out.”
My mother taught me about BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION.--“Stop acting like your father!”
My mother taught me about ENVY.--“There are millions of less fortunate children in this world who don't have wonderful parents like you do.”
My mother taught me about ANTICIPATION.--“Just wait until we get home.”
My father taught me about RECEIVING.--“You are going to get it when you get home!”
My mother taught me MEDICAL SCIENCE.--“If you don't stop crossing your eyes, they are going to freeze that way.”
My mother taught me ESP.--“Put your sweater on; don't you think I know when you are cold?”
My father taught me HUMOR.--“When that lawn mower cuts off your toes, don't come running to me.”
My mother taught me HOW TO BECOME AN ADULT.--“If you don't eat your vegetables, you'll never grow up.”
My mother taught me GENETICS.--“You're just like your father.”
My father taught me about my ROOTS.--“Shut that door behind you. Do you think you were born in a barn?”
My father taught me WISDOM.--“When you get to be my age, you'll understand.”
My mother taught me about JUSTICE.--“One day you'll have kids, and I hope they turn out just like you.”

Parenthood...what a glorious career.

The Images of Mother:

4 years of age-- My mommy can do anything!
8 years of age-- My mom knows a lot! A whole lot!
12 years of age-- My mother doesn't really know quite everything.
14 years of age-- Naturally, Mother doesn't know that, either
16 years of age-- Mother? She's hopelessly old-fashioned.
18 years of age-- That old woman? She's way out of date!
25 years of age-- Well, she might know a little bit about it
35 years of age-- Before we decide, let's get Mom's opinion.
45 years of age-- Wonder what Mom would have thought about it?
65 years of age-- Wish I could talk it over with Mom.

Somebody said it takes about six weeks to get back to normal after you've had a baby...
Somebody doesn't know that once you're a mother, "Normal," is history.

Somebody said you learn how to be a mother by instinct.
Somebody never took a three-year-old shopping.

Somebody said being a mother is boring...
Somebody never rode in a car driven by a teenager with a driver's permit.

Somebody said if you're a "good" mother, your child will "turn out good."
Somebody thinks a child comes with directions and a guarantee.

Somebody said "good" mothers never raise their voices...
Somebody never came out the back door just in time to see her child hit a golf ball through the neighbor's kitchen window.

Somebody said you don't need an education to be a mother.
Somebody never helped a fourth grader with her math.

Somebody said you can't love the fifth child as much as you love the first.
Somebody doesn't have five children.

Somebody said a mother can find all the answers to her child-rearing questions in the books...
Somebody never had a child stuff beans up his nose or in his ears.

Somebody said the hardest part of being a mother is labor and delivery.
Somebody never watched her "baby" get on the bus for the first day of kindergarten or on a plane headed for military "boot camp."

Somebody said a mother can do her job with her eyes closed and one hand tied behind her back...
Somebody never organized four giggling Brownies to sell cookies.

Somebody said a mother can stop worrying after her child gets married.
Somebody doesn't know that marriage adds a new son or daughter-in-law to a mother's heartstrings.

Somebody said a mother's job is done when her last child leaves home.
Somebody never had grandchildren.

Somebody said your mother knows you love her, so you don't need to tell her.
Somebody isn't a mother.

What Dads Really Want For Father's Day...

  • To be able to eat a whole candy bar (alone) and drink a soda without any "floaties" (i.e., backwash).
  • To have his 14 year-old daughter answer a question without rolling her eyes in that "Why is this person my father?" way.
  • Five pounds of chocolate that won't add twenty pounds to his figure.
  • A shower without a child peeking through the curtain with a "Hi Ya Dad!" just as she puts a razor to his face.
    .
  • For his teenager to announce, "Hey, Dad! I got a full scholarship and a job all in the same day!"
  • A grocery store that doesn't have candy/gum/cheap toys displayed at the checkout line.
  • To have a family meal without a discussion about bodily secretions.
  • To be able to step on a plane with their toddlers and NOT have someone moan, "Oh no! Why me?!?"
  • To occasionally get to sleep late on the weekend. I mean is this too much to ask?
  • To actually carry on a normal phone conversation with histoddler in the SAME room.
  • To actually be able to finish a HOT cup of coffee while his kids are present. An impossible feat!
  • To take a hot bath without his toddler suddenly screaming, "Daddy, I have to go potty!" as soon as hr hits the water.

These familiar sayings have somehow been handed down from mother to daughter right through the ages. How many of these did you grow up with?

  • Who do you think you are?
  • Ask your father (closely followed by "Ask your Mother")
  • Bored! How can you be bored? I was never bored at your age.
  • I'll treat you like an adult when you start acting like an adult!
  • Look at me when I'm talking to you.
  • Don't you roll your eyes at me!
  • Don't pick it, it'll get infected.
  • I don't care if "insert child's name here" Mom said yes.
  • You'll put your eye out with that thing!
  • I'm going to give you to the count to three.
  • Don't put that thing in your mouth; you don't know where it's been.
  • Wear clean underwear in case you get in an accident and have to go to hospital.
  • Don't cross your eyes like that, one day they'll freeze that way
  • I don't care who started it, I'll finish it!
  • Don't EVER let me catch you doing that again!
  • Why? Because I SAID SO, that's why!?!
  • If such and such jumped off a cliff, would you jump too?
  • If I catch you doing that one more time, I'll...
  • Your father is going to hear about THIS when he gets home!
  • If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.
  • How many times do I have to tell you, don't throw things in the house!
  • Do you think your clothes are going to pick themselves up?
  • "I don't know" is NOT an answer!
  • I know it's not fair. Life isn't fair.

The following are different answers given by school-age children to the given question:

    Why did God make mothers?

"She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is."
"Think about it, it was the best way to get more people."
    "Mostly to clean the house."
"To help us out of there when we were getting born."

    How did God make mothers?

"He used dirt, just like for the rest of us."
"Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring."
"God made my mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts."

Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?

    "We're related."
"God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's moms like me."

What ingredients are mothers made of?

"God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean."
"They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string... I think."

What kind of little girl was your mom?

"My mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff."
"I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy."
"They say she used to be nice."

How did your mom meet your dad?

"Mom was working in a store and dad was shoplifting."

What did mom need to know about dad before she married him?

    "His last name."
"She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer? Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?"

Why did your mom marry your dad?

"My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my mom eats a lot."
"She got too old to do anything else with him."
"My grandma says that mom didn't have her thinking cap on."

    What makes a real woman?

"It means you have to be really bossy without looking bossy."

Who's the boss at your house?

"Mom doesn't want to be boss but she has to because dads such a goofball."
"Mom, you can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed."
"I guess Mom is but only because she has a lot more to do than dad."

What's the difference between moms and dads?

"Moms work at work and work at home and dads just got to work at work."
"Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them."
"Dads are taller and stronger but moms have all the real power 'cause that's who you gotta ask if you want to sleep over at your friend's."

What does your mom do in her spare time?

    "Mothers don't do spare time."
"To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long."

What's the difference between moms and grandmas?

    "About 30 years."
"You can always count on grandmothers for candy. Sometimes moms don't even have bread on them!"

    Describe the world's greatest mom?

"She would make broccoli taste like ice cream!"
"The greatest mom in the world wouldn't make me kiss my fat aunts!"
"She'd always be smiling and keep her opinions to herself."

Is anything about your mom perfect?

"Her teeth are perfect but she bought them from the dentist."
"Her casserole recipes. But we hate them."
    "Just her children"

What would it take to make your mom perfect?

"On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery."
"Diet. You know, her hair. I'd dye it, maybe blue."

If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?

"She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that."
"I'd make my mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did it and not me."

For those whose parents were not up to snuff, remember: you have two chances at having a family, the one you were born in and the one you make.
Remembering also that a family is the circle of people with whom you associate. Your present 'family' is what you make it.
