It's Been Awhile

Hello there! It's just me again :)
So much has happened recently it is hard to know where to start. Just to let you all know I do red your journals, but I got alot to catch up on. When I wake up I mostly go to face book or singsnap. I rarely write in here. I miss jland!!!!!!!!
It seems like when I write in here not that many people read it anymore and sometimes I feel like I am just talking to myself, so if you do read say howdy!

Ok let's start with Eric my 27 yr old son and the love and joy of my life. Eric is still living in Austin. He is now in his own apartment, which is better than my own house :)..He has a third floor apartment and the view is spectacular! His swimming pool is awesome and the hot tub...well let's just say I could stay there for a long time. I recently went to visit him for week. It was a great time. He now has a girlfriend. I like her pretty much, but I guess no one is always happy with everything about their child's choice. I won't go into details just in case this is somehow assessable to the public. I would not want to hurt any feelings.
He is working as a delivery person for Jason's Deli which just kills me since he spent all that time and money getting his associates degree and is not using it at the moment. I know work is hard to find especially Chef jobs in Austin since they have a fresh batch of graduates every year. One of Eric's problems is his teeth. He has always had trouble with his teeth since he was a baby. Now I found a place called Clear Choice who do teeth implants. I am going to bite the bullet and have the work done for him so that his confidence is better and I think it will help with both the job and the girl situation. The only problem is that it is going to cost me 20,000.00 to have the work done...yes...you read that right the first time...
His girlfriend has two children from another guy. They are 1 and 4 yrs old. I of course love the children. I just think Eric is taking more on than he needs to. I have to put this in God's hands and not worry about something I have no control over.
Anyway...Rick and I are doing good. Rick planted a huge garden this year. We have radishes, cilantro, okra, corn, green beans, onions, squash, tomatoes, and numerous other veggies growing there. We also got a plum tree and some pepper plants growing. I spend alot of my time reading on the back porch watching the birds that come to visit each day.
We are not back at work yet, but will have to return soon. I will go back to HEB where I was a cashier. I still have my insurance license, but that kind of work bores me terribly. Rick is not sure what he wants to go back to work for. He knows how to do almost everything, so his options are many. As long as he can find a company who is hiring.
Sadie my puppy is doing good and her pup Shelby who now lives with Eric is doing well too. We had a recent scare with Shelby as she tried to take up smoking, we had to rush her to the vet. She is fine now.
We are still getting rid of stuff at my parents house and hope to sell it this year. Then I divide up the money and go back to my "normal" life. I can't wait!
We need to have a few more yard sales and get organized.
Eric will be having the dental surgery within the next 90 days, We want to go on one more vacation and then it will be back to work.
Hopefully with Eric's new teeth he will get a better job and well...
Anyway. I hope you are all doing well and that you had a nice Easter.
We spent ours with Eric and his "family".
Take care of yourselves and I will see you on facebook :) xoxBarb

Howdy Miss Barbara... It is so hard advising and knowing what is best for our adult kids these days.... you are doing good that you are there to listen to him and be available to talk and just love and support him... but yes it is nice when they are in their own apartments... son1 is moving back home again this week or next... So glad you and hubby are doing good and have had this time to just be together... I'm glad you are going back to HEB, I want you to do what you enjoy doing... Love and Hugs... :)

Just found this entry as I was scrolling thru Blogs. Now I know what you've been up to Ms Barbara. Anxious to hear about your garden...as I have one this year too.

Love your garden. Boy would I love to visit you right now. Regarding kids: Every reader understands your concern. Your son is blessed to have a Mom who cares so much, but doesn't try to run his life. To tell you the truth, Barb, if I could get off Facebook, I would. ..and just might down the way. Blogging is my favorite thing. I DO miss J-land, and like you, truly miss friends stopping by to read what I write. I miss being able to read what THEY used to write, Too few seem to blog anymore. Mostly are on Facebook. A friend asked me if I would consider starting up another story journal. Considering what I'm dealing with right now, preparing to say goodbye to my husband, story writing is appealing. It gives me opportunity to bring to life the stories- the characters walking about in the corridors of my mind. It is a good release.
It is nice to hear that you and hubby are doing good. Knowing other people are happy always makes my days a bit sunnier. Take care, and thanks for stopping by "Just For Today."

Howdy! :) I know what you mean about the teeth. My Hubby got laid off in June. He has had a hard time finding work and I cannot help but feel it is because he is missing two of his bottom teeth. He is one of 9 children and his Dad was the only one who worked, so they didn't have money for preventative care like my parents did (both worked and both of their jobs had insurance, so we were well covered). My son and daughter both need braces. We have never had the money to get them for them. My biggest wish is that my family could get their teeth fixed. Sorry I haven't been around much. I stay on Facebook most of the time now (Susan Johnson Rudd). Happy New Year!
