Update

I know it has been awhile and to all my friends here I would just like to say thanks for your prayers and patience.

I have not written in a while because I was going through some hard times.

I like to keep my journal upbeat.

I will now explain some of what has happened.

Let's get the bad news over with first and then I will try to look on the bright side.

I guess I should start with the news I recieved from my Mom.  As you all know, my mom and I are very close.

She has always been there for me.

She found out a couple of weeks ago that she has liver cancer.  I could not write of this sooner because all of the family didn't know yet.

She is going through chemo now and is having a hard time with it, but as always is a rock.

Her strength amazes me.  I ask for your prayers for her.

Her name is Shirley

The second thing that happened was that my son was let go of his job at his restaurant.  The place where he was working expanded and built a new club house.  It was then decided that there were too many chefs, so two got cut and Eric was one of them.

He is now working at a restaurant closer to his apartment.  He is working the night shift 11:00pm to 7 am.  Then on the days he is off there he is working at another restaurant.

Tomorrow is going to be a long one for him.  He is working job A from 11-7 and then the restaurant B from 2 in the afternoon to close...whatever that is.

Please keep him in your prayers too.

I lost one of my contacts down the drain and still have not been able to get my back tooth which broke fixed.

I was waiting on my insurance at work, but something happened there too and I will not be ableto get the insurance until 2008.

So I am dealing with all of this and trying to keep my spirits up.

I know that you are all here for me, I do appreciate that.

I am sorry that I have not been to many journals lately.

I will have to catch up somehow.....

Please keep my family in your prayers and I will be back to this as soon as I can.

It seems like the bad stuff hits us all at once.   I will add your mom to my prayer list and also pray that Eric can get a day job at a nice place.  A place where they will appreciate him.  Do you have any dental clinics in the area that do low cost work or at least where they take payments ?  Here in my area there are two vocational schools that have a dental assistant class and they do make appointments for people in the community to come in and have work done for a lower price than most dentists.  I don't know what to say about the lost contact, other than ...I'm sorry.  I don't know what else to say except that somebody is trying to discourage you and your family.   Keep looking up ^  Linda in Washington

That's a lot on your plate, Barbara. Don't hesitate to write, a sorrow shared is a sorrow halved.

Still praying for your mom and now also for your son. Barb have you thought of going to the dental school in San Antonio? I know several who go there to have work done and are happy with it. May have to wait a while for an appointment, not sure. Take care of your self. paula

I'm so behind in alerts I'm trying to catch up now. I'm at a loss for words regarding your mother. I know how hard this is as you are so close. I hope that her chemo goes well. Prayers to her for a recovery.
I'm so sorry about your son having to work all those hours now. I will pray that a better job will come along soon for him.
I know what you mean about your contacts.. I tore my last one the other day. I can't go get new ones until next weekend. Mine are so expensive because of stigmatism and I'm blind lol.
I have a tooth that needs a crown but I can't afford it and I'm just waiting for it to rot out of my head. It's an old filing going bad and decay is under the old filing. Lovely I know where you're coming from.
Lord 2008 you need insurance now.
Hope you all have a good Father's Day.
Take care and Hugs, Chrissie

Hi Barbara it has been a long time since I visited journals but I still always think of you and your wonderful stories you told.  I am so very sorry your son has to work two jobs, will pray that he finds a much more suitable one soon.  Again, I am very sorry about your Mom.  She sounds a lot like my Mom  we were also very close and she got cancer too.  Words can never express the feelings one has when you find out about your Mom having cancer, words can never say what a devestating feeling goes through one.  You and your family are in my prayers and god bless your Mom.  She sounds very much like a fighter and survivor, I wish the very best for her.

Barbara, when it rains it pours... I am so, so sorry about the news of your Mom.  She will definitely be in my daily prayers.  If you need to talk, please don't hesitate to email me.  I am no stranger to family members having cancer.  God bless you, dear Barbara.  Sending a million hugs your way, Val xox

Barbara,

When these things happen in life for me I always tend to say "why me?"   I have always gained some strength, insight and best of all I gain a greater understanding of God.  He is a loving God.  Even when we don't understand, even when someone we love leaves us or dies, even in sickness we must always remember that things will be ok, I will pray for you hon,   Stay strong!  love, rose
