This is Gross But I Need A Dentist!

But I am too scared to go to the dentist.  It is alot of pain.  This tooth was filled when I was a child and now it is coming out.

I stay awake most nights with intense pain.  I am also getting headaches from it.

Why oh why am I such a chicken?

And what about the money?

I am sure when that dentist gets in there she will she alot more cavities that need to be fixed.

Sad thing is ...all my other teeth are white and straight!

Sorry about the gross picture...any advice?

Barbara

Barbara,
Is there possibly a college close that may have a dental program.  Sometimes, they will see people who have no insurance, etc.  They are under full supervision and are almost graduating so they have all the experience and expertise they need to do what needs to be done and NOT hurt you more.  That's nothing to mess with....I'm sure you realize that....that infection can travel throughout your entire system....even to the heart.  I don't mean to scare you....but I sure want you to seek treatment.  If the tables were turned and I said I was scared...you'd be telling me to lean on my God !! So.....turn to Him !!!  He'll help ease some of your anxieties.

I ditto the college/dental program thing.  Our county has a "mobile dentist" van thingie.  Take a valium and just go and ask for the nitrous oxide gas....it will keep you calm.  Tell the dentist when you make the appointment.  Trust me, they want to make this as easy and experience for you as well as them!

Is the "intense pain" worse than the "intense fear" ?   When one out does the other, you'll make the necessary adjustments... and after the dentist fixes you, you'll say "why didn't I do that sooner??"

Im with ya on that one. I dont like the dentist.
I go, but I dont like it............
What can you do ??
One time on a friday night I got a terrible tooth ache. Knowing my dentist wouldnt be in the office till monday morning, I knew all I could do was numb the pain.
My wife and kids had a birthday party to go to.
I stayed home , on the couch with a small glass of vodka, and some Q tips.
I kept dabbing it on the aching tooth.
When my wife got home around 11pm, she said I was passed out on the couch.
Hmmm....  I musta been tired............ he he he
Woke up the next morning, and that tooth never bothered me again.
Thats been at least 10 years....   Weird isnt it ??

A crown would be the best thing but the cost can exceed $500.     mark

I need to go to a dentist too and so does our whole family.  Maybe this will be the summer for dental work.  I sure hope so.  Just be brave and God will do the rest.  Ask for drugs too!!  : ) Hugs,

Oh, Barbara, I'm SO sorry.  Finally fear outweighs pain and you get in there and get it over with . . .  it's got to be done.  So, put it behind you.

Sorry, sweetie!

Run to the dentist as quick as you can!  You could get an abcess and then you would REALLY be in pain.

I am a little late on this one but I will give you my professional say so as a former Dental Assistant of 10 years.

Looks like a couple of things going on her...one you probably need both of those teeth crowned or caped.  It there is any decay under the filling then you may very well also require a root canal.

I also can see that your gums are receeding.  This could just be from...um....age.  Or you could be getting gum diease.  When the gum tissue recceds like that it can make your teeth very very sensitive.  There is a tooth paste on the market that works real well for that and it is called Sensodyne.

You gotta bite the bullet and go to the dentist.  A lot of offices offer in house financing these days and they can get you on a payment plan.

Let me know what you did.
