The Friday 5'er

The Friday 5'er
          From Robin at;  http://journals.aol.com/robinngabster/Thesearethedaysofourlives/entries/1636

      Hi guys!!!

I missed last Friday so here is my make up 5'er!

If you want to play all you do is cut and paste these questions into your journal. (there is no deadline as to when you can do "The 5'er) When you have answered them come back and leave a link in my comment section.  On the following Friday I will have a new set of questions! Have fun!

LET'S PLAY!!!

1.  It's summertime and pretty much hot all over.  What is the hottest day you can recall? Every day in the summer is hot here...unless it decides to rain and then it is cool until the storm passes and then so humid.  I love Texas but it does get hot here.  Most days get past the 100 mark. I prefer to do my running around in the morning and spend the day inside.

2.  How do you keep cool in the summer? Pool? Beach? Other?

Sometimes I air up my air mattress that holds water and sit outside on the deck in the shade and read a good book.  Other times I just stay inside and chill on the recliner.  I wish I had a pool I would be in it everyday....Rick says I need to get out more and tan....um nope.

3.  Do you prefer to be sweating on a hot summer day or shoveling snow on a cold winter's day?

I hate to sweat so I guess I would prefer the cold...only I am not sure about the shoveling part...isn't that a mans job?  I would love to see snow as I have not seen since Eric was 2 years old.

4.  What did summer mean to you as a kid?

Summer meant Vacation Bible School when I was young, then 1 week of Church camp as a teenager.  Some of my best memories are from camp.  I still dream about all the fun we had and then wake up and think...oh yeah I am a grown up now.

5.  If you could be anywhere else right now where would you be?

I would be in California visiting with Robin and LInda....I would be in Austin visiting Eric.

Now I am going to go and make some sun tea and start working on my tan...Anyone want to join me?

Barbara

Man, j-land has been slow here lately, I was actually excited to see a new alert, and from you that makes it even better. You always have a hoot of an entry over here! :-D

Here in Ohio we crack 100, but 90 is pretty steamy . . . it's just humid hot and that is the worst kind. Blech. Shoveling snow on the other hand is a WORK OUT!! Let me tell you, I once shoveled the drive way for 3 hours, and it is thick and heavy and not as fluffy as you think when you are trying to scoop it up so you can move your car. Your entire body is sore the next day, kinda like good sex, with out the orgasm part. Mwahahaha. It (shoveling, not sex) sucks ass . . . so I guess  I would prefer to sweat my ass off.

(How was that to a response to your Five -- HaHaHa)

I would so join you to work on the tan, and I will bring my little cabana boy.

Take care,

Amanda :)

I am retreating from the heat today as I have been in it for the last 3 weeks from 4 to 8 hours a day.    There was some nice weather toward the end of June that lasted less than a week.     Now I will only be going in it after 3 p.m. each day when we will be in the shade of my pecan tree as the day starts cooling down working on my addition.    I have pushed myself as far as I could go which is what I wanted to do and now I have to rest.     Tomorrow I will stick to the late afternoon plan.    Years ago I remember coming home from working on billboards signpainting all day and I had no shade over my house and the cabin would be hotter inside still at 10 p.m. that it was outside with no A.C.    I have a 8000 btu A.C. that cools the entire cabin and new addition because I have insulated so well.   I also have large shade trees from Maples to the south and east.     I love the shade but now the problem of high winds breaking large branches knocking out a power line is possible.     One problem at a time.     I hope to catch up on reading journals.      Have a good 4th of July Holiday!     mark
