Of DVD players and Televisions LOL

Okay are you ready for this?

About a month ago our DVD player would not play the sound.  We are movie addicts and the people at Blockbuster have our membership number on speed dial.

I know where every single movie is in that store and often guide people to good movies while I am in there looking for something new to watch.

I was even offered a job working there because of my knowledge for movies and people skills.

Needless to say when our DVD player went bonkers it was like a death in the family.

We even opted to still renting videos and putting the subtitles on to read during the movie.  Not fun as you miss some of the good stuff while concentrating on reading what people are saying.  Plus I noticed that sometimes the words were behind on the actions.

This gave me a whole new respect for people who are deaf and this is the only way they can enjoy a movie.

After a while this became annoying and we started talking about getting the DVD player fixed or buying a new one.

Since Rick is so hard to buy Christmas presents for I held him off of going out and getting a new one so I could give him one for Christmas.

That is exactly what I did.

Last night I took the old DVD player out of the shelve under the tv to put in the new one.

I plugged a movie in and guess what no sound.

I thought maybe I plugged it in wrong and waited patiently for Rick to come in and read the directions and fix it.

The movie I put in was called Silence Becomes You (which by the way is a stupid movie and a complete waste of time)

Anyway I was thinking maybe because of the title, the first part of the movie was silent.

So we fast forwarded it and still no sound.

Then the light went off in my blonde head.                ...maybe it is the tv and not the DVD player...luckily this tv has connections in the front as well as the back.

We plugged the new DVD player into the front connections and guess what? SOUND!!!!

So now we have a tv that needs some TLC and two workingDVD players.

I thought this was hilarious! Rick did not share in my appreciation of the situation since he spent about 20 minutes plugging and unplugging things to figure out what was wrong.

Secretly I think it is because I figured  it out before he did LOL

Just a note or two to add..

I worked today from 10-3 and it was a great day.

My son is coming for a visit tomorrow and he is staying for 3 days, so if it feels like I disappear. I haven't I am just spending every waking moment with my son. And as a birthday present to him his boss gave him off with pay for three days!

My baby will be 22 on January 5th! We are going to have so much fun!!!!!!

You know I am on cloud 9!!!!

I will try to get a lot of pictures to share of all the events.

And you know me I will be checking back and forth to see what is going on in jland, so yall behave!!!! Barbara

That is so cute - we had a similar thing with Matt's Play Station. We thought it was a new game he had bought that wasn't working right until when I called the manufacturer, they politely asked me if I considered it could be the Play Station console. It was.

Enjoy your time with Eric! That was neat that his boss gave him the time off.

When I was about 8 mos pregnant with our youngest, I woke up from a nap soaking wet.  I was a scared that my water had broken & called the dr.  They told me to come on in  & they would check me.  No, my water hadn't broken.  Maybe the baby had pressed on my bladder & I'd wet myself.  Oh brother, was I embarassed.  Later that day I laid down on the bed & dozed off again.  When I woke up I was soaking wet, but only on my side where I'd been laying--on my WATERBED.  I see you're way ahead of me.  Yep.  Slow leak in the waterbed.  Oh geez did I ever feel STUPID. They wanted to see me at the DRs office the next day, so redfaced, I went in.  Did they ever get a chuckle out my story.
Which only rivals the time our TV had gone out.  Nothing worked on the remote.  It wouldn't turn on manually.  And guess what.  When my superduper fixer upper hubby came home (and he really can fix just about anything)...he turned on the cable box and viola`!  The tv worked.  LOLOL  Blonde moments abound around this house.

I hate when things don't work like they are supposed to.  Lately it's been our stereo speakers.  The lever that makes the volume go up and down seems like it wants to short out.  Sigh.  I hope an angel comes and fixes it for us as it's the only stereo in the house.  Hugs,
Lisa
