Monday Morning Question

Question:

What was the most surprised gift you ever got (you were totally unexpecting it) or gave (the person was totally unexpecting it).

Okay you guys are not going to believe this one

One Christmas my husband had a huge box under the tree with my name on it.  It sat there for 3 weeks under the tree and got my imagination going full time.  I am not one to peek..I wondered. What could it be?  A stereo system?  I really had no clue.  I just couldn't wait for Christmas morning to find out.

What was it you ask....................drum roll please

a kitchen faucet.   Kitchen Faucets

No your vision is fine. It was a kitchen faucet wrapped in about ten boxes and in the smallest one with some beautiful tissue paper laid the shiny new faucet.

How do you get excited about that?

You fake it.

So I waited patiently until his next birthday and planned a huge party with all of his friends and I gave him a blender.

He said, "What do you expect me to do with this?"

I said the same thing I did with my Christmas present...Use it.

Now I think Christmas presents should be something you can use, but not something like a vaccum cleaner or a hem kitchen faucet.

On to the second part of this.  Last year we too gave our son a cell phone.  I wrapped it up in a pretty package and set it under the tree.  On Christmas morning I rang his phone several times and Eric would look around and be like...what was that?

Finally he traced it to his present.  He was a happy camper.

How's that for an answer Betty?

great answer, Barbara! A faucet - that reminds me of when my hubby got me an ironing board for our first Valentine's Day together as man and wife. (but I needed one, LOL).

We did the same with our son for his cell phone - but in his stocking!

thanks for playing :)

I cannot believe he gave you a faucet
OMG I would have been mortified and then probably laughed
hope he learned his lesson. Hugs, Marina

Hey one year for my birthday or Valentine's day can't remember for sure since they are both in the same month...my husband gave me a TRASH COMPACTOR!  I could have died!

I love the idea about the cell phone, I will have to remember that one for when Gabby gets old enough for one!
